The challenge
Van Iperen developed a bio-stimulant to enhance the growth of specific crops. To understand the potential benefits of the stimulants and to put these in perspective of the production process, Hedgehog supported van Iperen with life cycle assessments.
The approach
Production and application of bio-stimulants are occurring within different system boundaries. And also, the performance of stimulants depend on many variables in a local environment. Hence, the LCA study was conducted in several field trials that needed to be aggregated into understandable results.
The result
Van Iperen used the insights of the study to increase the environmental benefits the products potentially have to offer and to stimulate their progress to market.
