- Hedgehog has a free account with no sales call, and publishes Pro pricing from EUR 1,200 a year.
- EcoHedge has more emission factors and native accounting integrations. Hedgehog does not.
- If your data lives in Xero, QuickBooks or Sage and you only need a UK report, EcoHedge is the better fit.
EcoHedge publishes a page comparing itself to Hedgehog. Five of its claims about us are out of date, and two are fair. This page corrects the first five with sources, concedes the other two, and tells you plainly which of the two tools you should pick.
We are not neutral. We make one of these products. So everything below is either sourced to a page you can open yourself, or attributed to a customer review on G2 that we did not write and cannot edit.
What does EcoHedge get wrong about Hedgehog?
Their comparison table, read on 27 August 2026, states the following.
"Free plan: no free tier published." Incorrect. The Hedgehog platform page says: start with a free account, no sales call.
"Sales call to get started: account or contact form required." Incorrect, and it contradicts the row above it on their own table.
"Transparent pricing: not disclosed." Incorrect. Hedgehog Pro starts at EUR 1,200 per year and the figure is published on our G2 pricing page.
"PPN 006 and UK public-sector tenders: not listed as supported." Incorrect. PPN 006 is named twice on the platform page, once in the guided setup and once in the reporting module, alongside the Dutch CO2-Prestatieladder.
"SECR-ready output: not listed as a primary output." Incorrect. SECR is named on the platform page under legislation, next to CSRD and California SB253.
None of this makes EcoHedge a bad product. Comparison pages age badly and ours will too. It does mean you should not use their table as your only source.
What does EcoHedge get right?
They have more emission factors. EcoHedge publishes 277,000 or more. Hedgehog publishes 20,000 or more, plus whatever organisation-specific and supplier-specific data you add yourself.
Factor count is a weaker buying signal than it looks, because most companies touch a few hundred factors in practice and the ones that matter are the ones covering your actual spend categories. But more is more, and they have more.
They have native accounting integrations and we do not. EcoHedge connects to Xero, QuickBooks and Sage. Hedgehog has no equivalent published integration. One of our own customers made exactly this point on G2 in June 2026, listing "more integrations in the future with other softwares" as the thing they would change.
That is a real gap, and we are not going to argue with a paying customer about it in public.

EcoHedge figures come from their pricing page and their comparison page, both read on 27 August 2026.
Which one should you pick?
Pick EcoHedge if your emissions data is mostly transaction data sitting in Xero, QuickBooks or Sage, you are a UK company answering UK requirements, and you want the shortest path from bookkeeping to a report.
Pick Hedgehog if any of the following are true. You bid on Dutch public tenders and need the CO2-Prestatieladder as well as PPN 006. You need product-level footprints, an LCA or an EPD, and you would rather buy the software and the expertise from the same place. You want a human GHG expert reachable from inside the tool. Or you run several entities and sites that need to be managed separately but reported together.
Pick neither if you need a broad ESG platform. One of our own customers put it plainly on G2: "If you're looking for a broader ESG data and reporting platform, for example for CSRD, this platform is less complete." They rated us 3.5 out of 5 and they were right to. Hedgehog is a carbon platform with consultancy attached, not an ESG suite.
What do Hedgehog customers actually say?
Hedgehog is rated 4.7 out of 5 on G2 from 9 reviews, 7 of them five stars. Reviewers are mostly mid-market European companies in building materials, manufacturing, chemicals and consumer goods.
What they like, in their words:

What they do not like, in their words:

That second one is a fair hit on a platform that sells traceable calculations, and it is on the roadmap.
The honest summary
EcoHedge is a reasonable tool for UK SMEs whose data lives in an accounting package. Their page about us was wrong on five specific points, all of which you can check in about two minutes using the links above.
