Coffee runs through the veins of Hedgehog. Founder Saro Campisano began his entrepreneurial journey with a company trading fairtrade coffee. Driven by a passion for sustainable supply chains, he established a fully traceable coffee supply chain, sourcing beans directly from farmers in Nepal and selling them to coffee bars in Amsterdam and Utrecht eager for his exclusive trade.
Today, we are increasingly aware of the environmental and social impact of coffee cultivation. Sustainability labels and certifications can help shed light on this impact, but Hedgehog goes further. We examine the effects of every step, even what happens after the coffee bean arrives in the bar.
Hedgehog now has a proven track record in calculating the impact across the entire coffee supply chain and all associated services. We have measured the footprint of a cup of coffee served from a mobile coffee truck visiting festivals across the Netherlands, accounting for everything from the paper cup to the milk used. We have also conducted lifecycle assessments for innovative circular coffee service models and different types of machines.
